Established in 1862, the Old Red Rock Cemetery is located a mile west of the modern location of the town of Red Rock in Bastrop County and is maintained by the Old Red Rock Cemetery Association.

Our History
From 1862 to the present, this historic cemetery has served as the final resting place for the settlers of Red Rock, their descendants and neighbors. The site's historical marker reads:
The town of Red Rock grew at the crossing of the Austin-Port Lavaca stagecoach road (now FM812) and the Bastrop-Gonzales Trail (now CR 229). In 1892, the town moved one mile east to the newly-laid railroad. This site, with more than 370 graves, is the burial place of pioneer settlers, including Texas trail drivers and veterans of the Civil War. The first documented burial was in 1864, Earlier graves may have been lost when home-made sandstone markers were removed. The cemetery is maintained by descendants of area pioneers. (1996)
Our members are descendants of the pioneers and community neighbors and are dedicated to the preservation of the cemetery and its history in addition to its role as an active cemetery primarily supporting the families of its members and out local community.
ORRCA maintains and improves the cemetery, provides a venue for descendants to explore and build their heritage relationships and raises funds to ensure the ongoing stewardship of these treasured grounds.
In addition to producing an annual newsletter, the Association hosts an annual picnic each year at the Red Rock Community Center. This year's event is on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 12:00 noon.
